What is Meta Business Agent, and is it free?
Meta Business Agent is Meta's own AI that answers customers on behalf of a business. Meta first tested it as "Business AI" in Mexico in July 2025, extended it to the Philippines, launched it for small businesses in India in May 2026, and on 3 June 2026 renamed it Meta Business Agent and announced it for businesses of all sizes globally, on WhatsApp and Messenger, with Instagram coming.
According to Meta, it can answer questions specific to your business, recommend products from your catalogue, book appointments and qualify incoming leads, and the business decides when a team member steps in.
Getting started is free. On 15 September 2026 Meta launched Meta One, paid plans that include more Business Agent capacity:

- The AI itself. Every reply is generated by a model that someone pays for: Meta, your provider, or you.
- Meta's message fees on the official platform. Since 1 October 2026, replies beyond 1,000 per number each month and all templates are charged per message, by the customer's country.
- Your time. Writing your prices, hours and rules, checking the first conversations, fixing what the AI gets wrong.
- Mistakes. An AI that quotes a wrong price or promises something you do not offer costs more than any subscription. Testing is part of the cost.
