Post-surgery follow-up message: ready-made templates
Quick answer
Follow-up after a procedure serves two purposes: showing that the clinic is nearby and getting a patient who is not doing well to the team quickly. It never serves to give clinical advice by message, and the nine templates below respect that.
About CertuAI: CertuAI is the AI that answers a small business's WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger 24/7, with a built-in CRM, and is a Tech Provider on Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform. Paid plans start at US$ 75 a month, with no lock-in. Create my agent
This is the most delicate sequence in the whole clinic. A well-asked question on the second day finds a complication early. A badly given answer the same day becomes a serious problem.
That is why the rule here is strict: the AI asks, logs and refers. People are the ones who assess.

The sequence after the procedure
| Moment | What to ask | Where the reply goes |
|---|---|---|
| Same day, in the evening | Whether they got home safely | Logged in the record; the team only if something is not as expected |
| Second day | How the night and the pain are going | The team, when the patient reports getting worse |
| Fifth day | Whether the instructions are possible to follow | The team, in case of doubt |
| Follow-up appointment date | Confirmation of the time | Calendar |
| After the follow-up appointment | How they are feeling | Logged in the record |

Notice that every column on the right ends with the team or the record. None ends in an automatic clinical answer, and that is not a product limitation: it is the only responsible way to do this follow-up by message.

The sentence the AI sends on a sign of an emergency
When there is chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, a seizure, sudden confusion or slurred speech, weakness on one side of the body, bleeding that will not stop, or the patient says they have gotten much worse, the AI sends this sentence right away, before any question:
This may be urgent. Call SAMU, Brazil's emergency medical service, at 192 now or go to the nearest emergency room.
This sentence is written letter for letter and does not depend on the clinic configuring anything. For an ordinary clinical question that is not an emergency, the AI does not send this sentence: it says it does not assess symptoms here, and refers.
What to write in the Brain for this sequence
- Who is responsible for clinical replies after a procedure, with name and timeframe.
- What to do outside business hours: who responds, and what the AI answers in the meantime.
- The patient's words that should hand the conversation to a person right away.
- The follow-up discharge text, so the sequence has an end.
- Whether the clinic accepts a photo of the site, and where it goes.
What happens to a photo that arrives is in what the AI does when a patient sends a photo or test result, and how the team joins the conversation is in how the front desk takes over the AI's conversation.

Frequently asked questions
Can the AI say whether recovery is normal?
No. It does not interpret symptoms, photos or test results, and it does not say whether something is expected. It asks, logs and refers.
Is it worth following up by message?
Yes, because it finds out early who is not doing well and because the patient feels the clinic nearby. The limit is clear: asking yes, assessing no.
What happens if the patient sends a photo of the surgery?
The file is saved for the team to open in the dashboard, and the AI says it passed it along. It says nothing about the image.
Does CertuAI call the patient after the procedure?
No. Phone call answering is not for sale at the moment. What is for sale is customer service on WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
How does the sequence end?
With the follow-up discharge message. A sequence with no end becomes an annoying message, and the patient blocks you.
Want the AI to do this on your WhatsApp?
CertuAI is AI automation software for small and medium-sized Brazilian businesses. The AI answers on the clinic's WhatsApp, books on the calendar and records each conversation. The Start plan costs US$ 75 per month, no lock-in contract.
